CASE STUDY

Unified Lending Interface (ULI) Architecture

Enterprise architecture for an interoperable, API-driven digital credit platform designed to connect lenders and ecosystem participants through a common lending interface.

Context

Digital lending at ecosystem scale requires more than a customer-facing application. It needs secure interoperability across institutions, standardised APIs, integration governance and architecture that can support multiple lenders and participants without creating tightly coupled point-to-point dependencies.

ROLE

Enterprise & Integration Architecture

Architected the Unified Lending Interface platform under RBI Innovation Hub, with responsibility centred on interoperable platform design and API-driven digital credit delivery.

OBJECTIVE

Enable scalable digital credit interoperability

Create an architecture capable of supporting banks, NBFCs and ecosystem participants through reusable integration patterns rather than institution-specific implementations.

Architecture themes

API-first interoperability

Use well-governed APIs and integration contracts as the foundation for connecting lending participants and digital credit journeys.

Institution-agnostic platform design

Design common capabilities that can support multiple types of regulated lenders while allowing institution-specific processes to remain decoupled.

Scalability and governance

Balance platform extensibility with architecture governance, security, traceability and operational resilience.

What this work demonstrates

Financial infrastructure becomes more powerful when architecture enables institutions to participate through common standards while preserving their own systems and controls. The result is a platform model that can support broader digital-credit participation without forcing every integration to be reinvented.
